Who: We highly encourage ER Teams to meet with business office staff (billing & coding) and watch together- great cross-over topic between clinical documentation and billing and coding requirements
Why: During 2016/2017, the MT Flex Program & MT Trauma Systems combined efforts in a project involving 17 critical access hospitals aimed towards improving reimbursement for trauma related services. Through that project, a knowledge gap was identified in regards to proper documentation and billing of the critical care time spent in ERs while caring for critically ill/injured patients. The goal of this program is to increase knowledge of critical care requirements and the documentation necessary for accurately reflecting critical care time.
