List of Helpful Web Sites National Rural Health Association (NRHA) - NRHA is a national membership organization, whose mission is to improve the health and health care of rural Americans and to provide leadership on rural issues through advocacy, communications, education and research. The NRHA is a non-profit association.
Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP)-The ORHP promotes better health care service in rural America. Established in August 1987, Congress charged the Office with informing and advising the Department of Health and Human Services on matters affecting rural hospitals, and health care, coordinating activities within the department that relate to rural health care, and maintaining a national information clearinghouse.
Rural Assistance Center (RAC) - RAC is a national resource on rural health and human services information. Information specialists provide customized assistance, such as web and database searches on rural topics and funding resources, and furnishing relevant publications from the RAC resource library.
Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC) - TASC is a federally designated resource center funded by the Office of Rural Health Policy supporting FLEX Program implementation.
The National Quality Forum is a private, not-for-profit membership organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for healthcare quality measurement and reporting. The mission of the NQF is to improve American healthcare through endorsement of consensus-based national standards for measurement and public reporting of healthcare performance data that provide meaningful information about whether care is safe, timely, beneficial, patient-centered, equitable and efficient.
Institute for Healthcare Improvement is a not-for-profit organization driving the improvement of health by advancing the quality and value of health care. The IHI provides energy, knowledge, and support for a never-ending campaign to improve health care worldwide. The Institute helps accelerate change in health care cultivating promising concepts for improving patient care and turning those ideas into action.
Chartered in 1970, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) is a nonprofit component of the National Academy of Sciences specifically created for the purpose of providing science-based advice on matters of biomedical science, medicine, and health. The IOM's mission is to serve as adviser to the nation to improve health. The Institute provides unbiased, evidence-based, and authoritative information and advice concerning health and science policy to policy-makers, professionals, leaders in every sector of society, and the public at large. The 1999 publication of To Err Is Human, Building a Safer Health System and the Quality Chasm Series has been credited with bring the quality of the healthcare system to the attention of the public.
